The Michigan Philharmonic, formerly the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra, is currently in its 66th season, Music in HD. Under the direction of Nan Washburn, the symphony is based in Plymouth, Michigan and reaches out to audiences all over southeast Michigan. The symphony started out in a local home when Evelyn and Carl Groshke held rehearsals with other musicians. High school music director Paul Wagner organized the formation of the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra which would give its first performance on April 20, 1947. Starting out as a local community orchestra, the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra grew into the professional orchestra now known as the Michigan Philharmonic. Known for its programming, The Michigan Philharmonic is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of the local community by fostering excellence and innovation in the performance of orchestral music, by educating current and future audiences, and by bringing distinction to the community through the regional presence and standing of its performing ensembles. The 2011–2012 season titled Music in HD will be based around a series of six concerts:
